Getting internet-access in the Philippines

Since 2 years we are trying to get a PLDT myDSL connection for my relatives in Pinagbaynan, Laguna, Philippines. We were told that we need to invest for a PLDT phone line to Pila, Laguna first. After having spend several hundred Euros for that line, we were told that no free DSL connects were available any more. We got a a new phone line, but no internet connection :-(.

In the following years we tried several online applications via the PLDT website. We did not even get an answer. Imagine! We are ready to pay for a real expensive DSL access plan (30 Euro per month for a 2Mbit DSL line!) but they are not interested in making the deal. That's embarrassing !

We now managed to get internet access via HSPDA modem from Globe Telecommunications, which is unfortunately not well suited for VOIP, but we can communicate via Skype now.
